Oops. Meant to post this last night but started working on my book and completely lost track of time. (Love it when that happens!) Anyway, here’s the post about our weekend:
This last weekend my parents invited us to go with them to some musicals at Tuacahn, an outdoor ampitheatre tucked into a red rock canyon near St. George, Utah.
My parents were going because they both recently hooked themselves up with their very own Mazda Miatas and the Utah Miata Club was doing a Tuacahn trip. The evenings were full of Miata Club activities. Everywhere we went, it was in a line of shiny little sports cars.
Friday we ate dinner at the Gun Barrel Steakhouse and Jordan and I split a buffalo prime rib with an au jus drizzle.
In the setting sun the red rocks around Tuacahn were lit up much more nicely than in these pictures:

Seriously, I have got to start remembering to bring our real camera on these trips instead of relying on my phone.
We were highly entertained by Mary Poppins, complete with a fireworks show at the most dramatic moments.
Afterward we had a really pretty starlit drive with the Miata tops down.

My dad reflected in the shiny surface of his car. You can sort of see all the sparkly flecks in the paint.
With some of our free time before watching Starlight Express on Saturday, we stopped at the LDS temple and walked around the grounds.
Back at the Tuacahn ampitheatre we decided to try some of the available treats.
And I prepared myself for the 3D extravaganza that Starlight Express offered.
On the way back home the next day, we took a little detour just for fun and got to see some really cool mountains.

In real life it kind of looked like petrified water. (Yes, I’m sure that isn’t technically possible.)
And when we got back, we were happy to be greeted by our favorite kind of Vegas weather: stormy with a side of rain clouds.
Once inside, I promptly lay down and fell asleep. A good weekend is both energizing and exhausting, right?
